while focusing on his side projects admx-71 and traversable wormhole the past two years, the pioneering forefather of the industrial techno groove adam x returns on sonic groove records with an extended player entitled “bedeviled”. adam mixes a recipe of rhythmic noise industrial, classic rave and post contemporary techno rolled across three songs. creating the perfect mix of sound and rhythm aimed to torment dancefloors into submission during the peak hours of the night.

debut release on the new kaleidoscope jazz chair reissues label. first release contains some beautiful and well crafted dubbed out techno by kit clayton with his 1998 deadlock tune originally released as the b2 on the 4-track unreliable networks ep (on silent servant s label cytrax ), it slipped under many a record buyer s radar. nearly 20 years later, now that electronic musical tastes have matured and expanded, the time seemed right to re-present, this lush, atmospheric, percussive work out to the heads, deservedly pressed on a full side of 12- vinyl. pussy clap was originally released on the remote label, set up by charles webster, and featured house music predominantly written by charles and neil tolliday, better known as nail. jorge felucca was the alias that neil used when creating the more dubbed out, techy tracks for the label. sounding somewhat like a deep house take on maurizio, pussy clap was also released in 98, but had since fallen into obscurity, and the time had come for it to be rejuvenated and polished with an amazing remaster by pole for the modern ear that is a dramatic improvement on the original

belgian duo raw district return to the crosstown rebels label with addicted, teaming up with the formidable aquarius heaven again for the label, this time remixed by the infamous doc martin and keinemusiks rampa. an ex reggae dancehall and hip hop singer aquarius heaven brings the colors of the caribbean to addicted. raw districts flamboyant percussions grinds the beats into a track that stretches the limitations of electronic music. rampas remix illustrates the breadth of his studio skills, as founder of a production company teile, he builds soaring synths and strumming piano to elevate the emotional aspect to addicted equipping it for the early hours of the night. doc martin has earned the respect of many over his extensive career for his timeless style that bridge many genres. his remix is a driving, dub-tastic, tribal take on the original that has been going down a storm!

jonas friedlich, better known through mistress recordings and carl gari, releases his first solo 12- on molten moods. the versatile 4 track ep starts with the rather straight -bo s breakfast- that begins with a polyrhythmic 303 bass line leading into a catchy garage-ish chorus, kicking in out of a clear sky but fittingly. -bus driver- is a wicked trip, the combination of the long acid build up and a nicely chopped vocal bit is irresistible. a proven, tested (and molten moods certified) club banger, regardless of its rather untypical breakbeat. track number 3 called -praise your name- aces groove through perfectly cut vocal samples and a fancy reference to 90s hip hop and drum n bass aesthetics. the next and last piece on the record is the eponymous -deskjet-, which is inspired by friedlichs conceptual sound art installations using printers. here rather restrained synthie lines are underpinned by a powerful kick and psychedelic tape delay noises. the 12- vinyl is handstamped on both sides. mastered and cut by scape mastering. artwork by paul bernhard.

humanoid x is cpus deepest foray into detroit techno so far, from blixaboy aka mwanza dover texas based artist, friend of cygnus and very much part of the local electro scene. dover presents an album influenced by the pioneers of the hypnotic groove. on first pass you’ll find elements of krautrock through to the belleville three, all with finely crafted arrangements that reveal themselves in more detail on each listen. a cyberpunk theme runs throughout as blade runner-esque synths wash over the album evoking late night electric-city noodle restaurant contemplation. blixaboy has selected 4 of the more dj friendly tracks from the album for the vinyl e.p. treatment.

as the label continues to serve up mouthwatering house and hip hop, d3 elements now dips its toes into more techno leaning territory with a series entitled technologie. the first release comes from american d marc cantu under his lesser known rival alias and features three tracks of hypnotic and widescreen grooves.

a selection of four clubby reinterpretations of red on‘s ambient hardware jam „ghana“. by marrying the eerie soundscapes and delicate melodies of the original recording with their particular style of drum work, a. elm, alex ketzer, the marx trukker and philipp roth push the original tracks into krauty techno and rough, dancefloor focused house music.

raam is back with a solid 4 tracker. the ep starts with ment which is a raw and jacking deep house track. a big rolling bassline, drum machine grooves and melancholy pads create that special house feeling. lipslide is a sublime and discoish house track with dubby chords and bubbly synths that slowly but surely unfolds into a serious groove that really work the floor. on the flip ment get some remix treatment from samo dj (lies, ttt, born free etc) and alexi3d. they transform the original in to gritty and percussive techno trip. the ep ends with ask which is a slow house-not-house track.

relaxer returns with the second installment on their eponymous label. heavy, virulent and filled with longing, relaxer draws us further into the artist’s fascinating & unique world. side a’s “hissing flora” unspools organically over ten minutes, its melodic tendrils wrapping around a corroded vocal atop a heaving low end. on side b, “weekend” drifts through a beatless mist, with flickers of venomous voices and crumpling synths that shine through drawn shades. “climate of fear” snaps the listener out their uneasy rest with stomping percussion, overflowing arpeggiations and keening harmonies.

the best records have a story, they form part of a journey, different characters emerge and the good music always rises to the fore. in the case of the latest record from scottish producer jack eye jones and the legendary junior sanchez this is certainly true. cocaine blues is a step into the unknown in some respects but in another way, it s a record that seems to fit in perfectly with todays electronic music landscape.

chicagos peven everett has long had a cult following for his own unique, live take on house music. fusing the finest elements of gospel, soul, funk and disco his tracks have always had something that most other producers lack originality! his music has crossed over many different genre barriers and has been supported by the widest selection of top dj s for many years with his cuts becoming stone cold anthems in clubs across the globe. i cant believe i loved her is one such track, a soulful piece lamenting a love that went wrong, the pain and disappointment are evident in peven s voice and playing but the track remains utterly danceable, a real bomb! on it s original 2002 release the track was a huge club hit, pushing it into classic status. both original mixes are featured here on this legit reissue, 100% sanctioned by king street records, nyc. brought back for 2016, an evergreen deep house classic essential business!

marathons began innocently, as a quick debut ep by an energetic swedish duo we found on soundcloud. within a couple months of chatting with the pair, artur bra&#776,,ndstrom and egil kahlbom, however, we realized our collaboration wasn t going to be simple, so cut and dry, so straightforward, and that s why we find ourselves here, a year after meeting them with a full album, not an in-and-out single, on our hands. what made it complex and intricate, you ask? why d we opt to squeeze eight originals into one long-player, you wonder? well, artur and egil are prolific dudes with fantastic ears and formidable work ethics. a couple of demos quickly sprouted offspring and became four, then six, then ten. rather than fight the arbitrary desire to trim the spread down to a 12inch, we figured we d aim higher and work on a proper album. what we constructed is, in a very classic sense, a long-player. here s that album! it s a sunny, loose, limber, uninhibited boogie through warm disco cuts and wobbly house jams and soulful funk slices. daytime chill-out with a nightclub architecture—or peak hour mayhem with a bright, clearheaded euphoria. marathons swings every which way and suits any mood, so drop that needle and try it on. then repeat, repeat, repeat.

butterflies is lord tang s second full length release. it is a warm descent into a dub fueled frenzy of color and light. it is a sound dredged from the depths of jamaican dub and spun into a new form that incorporates the many influences on lord tang s creator, dominic cramp: soundtracks, library music, vintage science fiction, broken beats, dirty electronics, modular electronic music, abstract tone clouds.

jürgen karg’s career in music began in the 1960s as bass player for german jazz legend wolfgang dauner. it was not until the 1970’s that he switched his attention to electronic music, launching himself wholeheartedly into exploring the genre and building up an extensive collection of synthesizers over a five year period. his efforts culminated in “elektronische mythen”, a mighty opus of experimental music which reveals new aspects every time it is played. jürgen karg’s music is deeply serious, as vexing as a jamais vu, yet absolutely beautiful. “elektronische mythen” is an album which fits like a puzzle piece between the first and second soundtracks for a clockwork orange. it’s worth to check it out!

for the second release on alex bradley’s utopia records we see the return of london based producer dominic jacobson aka ‘modaji’. dominic’s initial modaji and harvey lindo releases garnered acclaim from luminaries such as francois kevorkian, derrick may and gilles peterson and after 10 years away from releasing to concentrate on composing music for film and television, jacobson returns to the studio to delve further into his deep house and ambient soundscapes. the first of two ep’s, belle epoque touches on a more cinematic approach to production and showcases a warmer, more expanded sound. the aim is to create music that is as listenable during the dusky twilight hours as it is at sunrise. the rest we leave to your imagination and trust you will enjoy our offering. limited pressing!

dennis ayler was first introduced to us via 22a earlier this year. he now returns on his own imprint dennis ayler music. his debut ep no comment gives the listener a chance to step into dennis aylers world, where drum machines play cards with electric guitars and lead synths do private strips for kicks.

australian label nightime drama, run by peter fincher (aka vibrio) and shaun franklin (aka trebek) now serves up its second standout release of 2016. this four track affair comes hot on the heels of the last by yoshihiro arikawa, and is a second release on the label by aussie live act, dj and producer trinity, with steven tang and italian based andee on the remix. trinity has also released on ooc, coincidence and android muziq and regularly performs all round europe. his sound deep and cosmic, heady and hypnotic, as the fresh tracks here prove. cascade drive is seven minutes of direct and elastic house with spacey pads and driving drums carrying you through the cosmos. from the earthmothern label and one half of rk s, andee strips it back to a slick rubber kick drum then layers in a forceful acid line and icy hi hats to really get you under its spell. the longform groove is physical and cerebral in equal measure. the next original is expansion, and again finds trinity serving up a hi tech and soul infused deep techno sound that is lithe and liquid, smeared with great pads and truly timeless. emphasis boss steven tang is the perfect man to remix given his style, and his version flips the cut into a more heavyweight and banging techno effort, but one that is just as littered with sci fi sounds, spaceship trails and intergalactic energies.
